Accountant
Job Summary:
Consistent with the vision and values of Amsted Rail, the position's prime responsibility is to work with operations to ensure accuracy of financial and physical inventories at North American Amsted Rail facilities (with primary focus on the Granite City location). The individual will oversee inventory processes within a foundry manufacturing environment, facilitate root cause analysis of process failures and successes, implement change and translate best practices into favorable financial results.
General Responsibilities: Performs all functions of a Professional Inventory Accountant.
1. Will actively work with operational leadership on the plant floor to analyze inventory levels and trends
2. Analyze inventory movement & proactively report deviations from expectations
3. Monitor stock levels, demand & vendor deliveries to anticipate potential issues & proactively communicate them
4. Analyze & report on variances from plan
5. Co-ordinate cycle counts & physical inventories; actively participate in reconciliation & variance analysis (i.e. receipt, goods issue, shipment process issue , etc)
6. Ensure timely & accurate recording of purchasing & inventory data & transactions
7. Develop internal controls over inventory related items. Understand, educate and promote SOX initiatives
8. Support the month-end close process. Identify and make necessary adjusting entries, and prepare monthly journal entries for cost accruals as needed.
9. Support the company's SAP implementation initiative within the scope of inventory accounting relevant subjects.
10. SAP COGI Error resolution
11. Complete quarterly obsolescence reserve analysis
Desired Skills:
Software strengths: Excel, Powerpoint; SAP experience, particularly discrete and repetitive manufacturing and costing Experience/ Educational Requirements:
Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting;
Minimum 5 years of work experience with at least 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment relevant to inventory;
CPA or CMA preferred
